Phenalenyl-based mononuclear dysprosium complexes
The phenalenyl-based dysprosium complexes [Dy(PLN)2(HPLN)Cl(EtOH)] (1), [Dy(PLN)3(HPLN)]·[Dy(PLN)3(EtOH)]·2EtOH (2) and [Dy(PLN)3(H2O)2]·H2O (3), HPLN being 9-hydroxy-1H-phenalen-1-one, have been synthesized. All compounds were fully characterized by means of single crystal X-ray analysis, paramagnetic (1)H NMR, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, UV-vis spectrophotometry and magnetic measurements. Bo...
متن کاملCoordination-perturbed single-molecule magnet behaviour of mononuclear dysprosium complexes.
By changing the ratio of reactants, two mononuclear Dy complexes, [Dy(phen)(acac)(3)] (1) and [Dy(phen)(2)(NO(3))(2)(acac)]·H(2)O (2) have been synthesized and structurally characterized. In 1, a Dy atom bearing square-antiprism coordination geometry exhibits SMM behaviour, while compound 2 with a bicapped-square-antiprism geometry does not show such SMM properties. The different magnetic behav...
متن کاملConnecting mononuclear dysprosium single-molecule magnets to form dinuclear complexes via in situ ligand oxidation.
A Dy2 complex, exhibiting SMM behaviour, and its Y analogue were prepared via in situ oxidation of Py2TTA, a pincer type ligand, followed by dimerisation. This unique metal complexation and subsequent dimerization were followed by solution NMR studies.
متن کاملChemical tuning of the magnetic relaxation in dysprosium(iii) mononuclear complexes.
A dysprosium(iii) complex, exhibiting slow relaxation of magnetization, was prepared. Crystallographic studies showed a perturbation of local symmetry upon deprotonation of the ligand, with concomitant faster relaxation of magnetization. This was attributed to a large shift in the direction of the main magnetic axis, as indicated by ab initio calculations.
متن کاملMolecular and electronic structures of donor-functionalized dysprosium pentadienyl complexes.
Two dysprosium complexes, [(C5H4Me)2Dy(L(1))] (3) and [(L(1))Dy(μ-Cl)3{Li(tmeda)}]2 (4), with amino-functionalized pentadienyl ligands L(1) are described. Crystallographic studies of 3 and 4 show that the pendant amino group influences the pentadienyl conformation and the ligand hapticity. Electronic structure calculations reveal that L(1) has a strong influence on the orientation of the main m...
